  1. Hi, I’m really loving you’re blog and instagram so inspirational! I recently became vegan but my sleeping had gotten bad I’d get hungry late at night and I practically lost my period. Ill probably get an iron blood test but is it possible to get all the iron I need from vegetables plus taking floradix? Also I found eating too much fruit causes my skin to break out

    • Hi Marika, thank you so much for the love!
I’m so sorry to hear that you had problems when transferring over to a vegan lifestyle. I’m not a professional, but i may have a few tips for you. First being, did you transition suddenly, and quit all animal products cold turkey? Or did you slowly transition, eliminating different foods at a slow pace? If you did this transition quickly, that could be part of the reason. Second thing is, your eating habits and meal plans. Being a vegan isn’t that different from how you would normally eat. If you found yourself getting hungry at night time, it may be because you didn’t eat enough during the day. Always remember to start your day off with a big breakfast, and same goes for a big healthy lunch. Have a little snack in between lunch and dinner, and by dinner, you should be eating lots of veggies and whole grains. You shouldn’t eat up to 3 hours before you go to sleep, so what i do since i go to bed around midnight, is have a little snack such as fruit, granola, peanut butter on banana or an apple, etc around 9-9:30, and that keeps me good until breakfast. Also if you are hungry try drinking water or having a warm cup of tea. That always helps me.

As to what you said about getting enough iron and vitamins – yes! I have low iron as well, so i take iron pills everyday along with vitamin D and C, but i find i get enough iron, protein, vitamins and minerals in all my fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, etc. It all depends on the kinds of foods you eat. Being vegan means eating the right healthy foods, not just anything that’s vegan (french fries, even oreos are vegan). When on a vegan diet, make sure to get all the food groups that you can. Again, i am not a professional, so I’d advise you to talk to your health care provider or a nutritionist if you think you’re having problems.

With the fruit making you break out thing, i don’t think it’s the fruit. I eat a TON of fruit every single day, along with veggies, grains nuts etc, and that keeps my skin clear, along with washing my face, getting a good nights sleep, and not being stressed.
Here is a link to a acne face map to see if your break outs are caused by foods, or if it’s caused by stress, not enough sleep, your organs, etc.

I hope this helps! Let me know if anything changes,
      Katrina
