When most people want to get fit or in shape, they think that means reducing the number on the scale, or being super slim. But that isn’t always the case. Sometimes people get so caught up in how many pounds they can drop that they don’t focus on what they’re doing to their mind.
Forget about how much you weigh; why does it matter? It’s not like humans walk around with a sign above their heads announcing their weight? No. That is a personal thing, and if someone asks you, you don’t have to answer. A number is just a number. It does not define you.
When you are looking to become healthy, you should first worry about your mental health, and second, how you feel about yourself. If you are happy and satisfied with how you look, then do not let ANYONE tell you otherwise. No one is pressuring you to lose weight or change your appearance. Do what’s right for you.
Don’t think that just because someone is smaller that they are healthy. Some smaller people eat terribly and don’t work out at all, but they have a small size or figure so people consider them healthy. Health does not depend on what you look like or how much you weigh – it depends on how you feel about yourself – your mind, your body, and your overall happiness.
If you do want to get in shape, start with what you eat, and then exercise. As long as you are doing those two things, you are on the right track.
And if you are slimming down, gaining muscle, and feeling happy, don’t even worry about weighing yourself – because chances are, if the number is higher than expected, it will crush your hopes and lower your self-esteem.
We have this problem where we think that number defines who we are. Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are working out and gaining muscle, it’s the muscle that is causing you to weigh more. Does that make you fat? No. It makes you awesome.
Focus on what’s right for you. Focus on how you look physically, and how you feel emotionally. If you are happy with how you look, then that should be all you need. Once you free your mind from the cage it was trapped in where you thought weight meant everything, you will allow yourself to be free to change, and overall happiness.
